Nigeria had recently confirmed five new cases of COVID-19, at a time when the global death toll from the disease had hit 7,994 with more than 200,000 infected across over 100 countries.

The cleric, however, shared a video where he stated that the virus won’t come close to those “who serve God wholeheartedly”.

Adeboye’s statement has since sparked a heated debate on social media platforms especially Twitter, where users are presently registering their differing opinions.
