Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has sparked argument on social media platforms with comments he made concerning the coronavirus outbreak.
Nigeria had recently confirmed five new cases of COVID-19, at a time when the global death toll from the disease had hit 7,994 with more than 200,000 infected across over 100 countries.
The cleric, however, shared a video where he stated that the virus won’t come close to those “who serve God wholeheartedly”.
Adeboye’s statement has since sparked a heated debate on social media platforms especially Twitter, where users are presently registering their differing opinions.
“Perverse knowledge is the coronavirus Nigerians are suffering from. Pastor Adeboye simply balanced prayer of hope, calling you to Jesus, strengthening your faith and personal hygiene but as always y’all turn a blind eye to the latter. Carry on,” a Twitter user said.
“People abuse Buhari daily but no videos and hot takes on that. Y’all just have problem in this country. How does the video Pastor Adeboye released make sense? Aren’t there Christians who have died from this virus Christianity sometimes sickens me,” another user said.
Here is what some Nigerians had to say:
People abuse Buhari daily but no videos and hot takes on that.

I really don't get why people are infuriated at what Pastor Adeboye said. some Nigerians have the habit of acting like Pastors are the problem of Nigeria forgetting that they elected some people into political offices.
Bro, have Buhari said anything on Coronavirus?

Even if Pastor Adeboye says “God bless you and your family” some people would still be angry.
This is becoming very ridiculous

So which part of this Pastor Adeboye's Video is making you angry?
He said Corona Virus will not come near you and people are legit angry about that?
Do you want Corona virus to come near you? pic.twitter.com/pVi7Uie3pb

Pastor Adeboye tweeted that not only by righteousness but also through proper hygiene can we overcome the virus outbreak but most of y'all left the hygiene part &started dragging him for making such statement. Even POTUS advised all Americans to pray but y'all won't see that one.

Honestly, this habit of attacking men of God is getting worrisome. I was shocked to see those replies under his post. Pastor Adeboye only prayed and asked us all to pray. He even mentioned that we should all practice proper hygiene. Nawa https://t.co/yYmXZPgXSL

Same people who come here to insult Pastor Adeboye is the same pple that attend Holy ghost Congress every December n later u will wonder why God is not answering ur prayers? U can't mock God at all. This men of God pray for the peace we enjoy in this country. #CoronaVirusNigeria pic.twitter.com/M9l1l0mQXF

Pastor Adeboye said the Truth and they are all shaking. When you will not read your Bible and live a righteous Life, now your conscience is judging you up and down. Nonsense!!!. Thank you Sir for the word. More Grace Sir🙌!!!

I dont agree wit wat pastor Adeboye said but I’m nt goin 2 abuse him cos its pointless lol
I believe some Christians might die 4rm corona & dat doesn’t mean dey werent gud Christians
You guys should see this..if he dies from it, does it mean he’s been a fake pastor all dis while?— AJ(The Way I Am)😐 (@ifIplease) March 18, 2020
Th devil is doing a quick endtime work and half-baked religious youths are playing a major role in this his vision:
"The devil is making things of God look foolish to people and making his things look innocent".
Pastor Adeboye is a threat to the devil, so assault is inevitable.

Some kids were really insulting Pastor Adeboye for praying for the nation, because they wanted to get retweets from their fellow idiots. Even Donald Trump, the President of USA and one of the most powerful people in the world declared a National Day of Prayer over Coronavirus.
— World Publicist (@IsimaOdeh) March 17, 2020
According to Pastor Adeboye the Coronavirus Pandemic is a punishment from God for those who don't serve him wholeheartedly! Sometimes these religious leaders make God look like a very wicked man.

I really do not care how Pastor Adeboye's video made you feel and I want you to understand that your opinion matters to me a little bit less.
Myself and my family, we key into his prayers and with proper hygiene, we hope that the blood of Jesus will protect us from coronavirus.🙏🏾— Obi Of Onitsha🇨🇦 (@cliqik) March 18, 2020
Pastor Adeboye said what he said…
You either take or move on…..we need to learn to respect people's belief.
Why insult him?🤷🏾♂️….Forget Pastor…
That man na Elder..if e swear for you for this African land soo….nah die you dey ooo…

As a Christian, I find it very difficult to believe that the #coronavirus is a deliberate God's punishment for the world.
How can a loving Father bring pain, anguish and death to His children?
As for what Pastor Adeboye said, I don't expect less,He literally quoted the Bible.

I strongly believe in what our Father in the Lord has said. I dwell in the secret place of the most high. Therefore, I and my loved ones will not be affected
First I say Amen, corona- virus will not come near me and my family in Jesus name.
Secondly, hospitals are failing, doctors all over the world have no answer, governments, world leaders, and world health institution have no answer, Scientists are sweating to find cure, yet the pandemic ranges on , taking thousandfold in its strides,
What a moment to run to God,
What a moment to call on God
What a moment to seek God’s mercy and intervention.
A most respectable God ‘s servant ( Daddy G.O) revealed God’s message as solution for the corona virus pandemic and some people are raising dust.
The question is even if you don’t love ‘Adeboye’ should you reject his suggestion of a solution?
For years, he has been calling for a holy lifestyle as a prerequisite for and antidote to overcoming devil and his antics, his recent message strengthens that.
My people, in this period the messages of Psalm 91 will help in overcoming this virus.
Daddy may God preserve you in this perverse generation, more revelation please.
God bless you Sir.
Amen. May God open our eyes to see what is going on in the spiritual realm. Let’s continue to live a clean life, good hygiene and pray to God for mercy
i believed Adebayo on this one,Christians must fast and pray to be a good christian
