Born on May 9, 1953, Salami’s acting journey began in 1964. He started with a group called Young Concert Party, led by the Ojo Ladipo, also known as Baba Mero. The group underwent name changes throughout the years, evolving from Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group to Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group.

Following Ladipo’s passing in 1978, Salami assumed leadership of the group, which propelled him into the spotlight.

He made his cinematic debut in the first-ever Yoruba film, ‘Ajani Ogun’, where the late Adeyemi Afolayan, father of prominent actors Kunle Afolayan and Gabriel Afolayan, played the lead role.

In 1985, he produced his first movie ‘Ogun Ajaye’, under the Awada Kerikeri banner.  Since then, he has become a triple threat in the Yoruba film industry, actively producing, directing, and starring in numerous movies.

The artistic legacy continues within the Salami family, as his sons Femi Adebayo and Tope Adebayo have followed in their father’s footsteps, establishing themselves as successful actors and movie producers.
