Saratu Gidado, the Kannywood actress better known as Daso, has passed away.
Ali Nuhu, the actor and filmmaker, announced Daso’s death on Tuesday via an Instagram post.
“INNALILLAHI WAINNA ILAIHIR RAJI’UN Allah ya jikan Haj @saratudaso da rahama,” he wrote.

However, the cause of death remains undisclosed.
It was also gathered that family members of the late actress revealed she was found dead on Tuesday morning.
Daso was said to have died in her sleep after the midnight meal — before the commencement of the day’s Ramadan fast (Sahur).
Born on January 17, 1968, in Gombe state, Gidado attended primary school in Kano.
She was known as a determined individual, who defied odds to rise to stardom.
Gidado’s film debut came in 2000 with ‘Linzami Da Wuta’, produced by Sarauniya Movies.
She also starred in numerous Kannywood movies including ‘Nagari’, ‘Gidauniya’, ‘Mashi’, and ‘Sansani’.
Gidado, who was prominent in the Hausa film industry for more than two decades, appeared in over 100 movies.
She was the first married woman in the Kannywood industry.
Aside from acting, Gidado was assigned as the protocol officer (Jakadiya) to the emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II in 2016.
