The organisers of the Detty December Fest have announced the first wave of artistes billed to headline its 2025 edition.
The month-long festival, scheduled to run from December 6 to 31, 2025, will be held across two major venues in Lagos: Ilubirin, Ikoyi, Bourdillon Road, and The Livespot Entertarium, Oba Elegushi Beach Road, Lekki.
Artistes set to perform include American rapper Busta Rhymes, Nigerian street-pop sensation Bella Shmurda and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
Hannatu Musa Musawa, the minister of art, culture, tourism and the creative economy, in a statement, said the government would be partnering with Livespot, organisers of the event, to shape Nigeria and Africa’s cultural landscape.
“In line with our commitment to position Nigeria as Africa’s leading cultural and entertainment destination, the federal government of Nigeria will be partnering with Livespot on Detty December Fest,” she said.
“Together, we are moving ‘Detty December’ from a social trend to a structured national asset through this partnership. We will showcase Nigerian and African talent on a world-class stage. We will support SMEs and creative businesses, from vendors to production teams, to fashion, food and hospitality.
“We will work with relevant MDA’s to improve the safety, mobility and the overall visitor experience so that Nigerians, the diaspora and the international guests can enjoy our festive season with confidence.”
