Patrick Doyle, the ace actor, has addressed his relationship with his ex-wife Ireti Doyle, stating a firm preference for silence over speaking negatively about her.

The former couple, who married in 2004 and finalised their divorce in early 2023, have publicly navigated their separation while maintaining a professional connection, including co-starring in the 2023 thriller ‘The Black Book’.

During a recent appearance on ‘Wake Up Nigeria’, Doyle was asked about his ex-wife.

He responded by emphasizing that his “anointing” prevents him from speaking ill of anyone.

“I would like to say that if I don’t have anything nice to say about a person, I would rather remain silent. My anointing doesn’t allow me to speak ill of anyone, whether dead or alive,” he said.

“I’m happy that the Doyle name has opened doors for her, and so far she hasn’t disgraced the name. She is doing very well, and I’m proud of her achievements in the industry. I hope it continues that way.”

In June, the actor alleged that Ireti continues to use his surname to maintain her relevance in Nollywood.

“I can never be defined by her. My body of work is too solid to be defined by anyone,” he had said.

“Why is Doyle popular? Why did the person revert to Doyle after the separation? Who is responsible for making whom popular? The name predates that person’s emergence. It is okay with me. I do not have a problem with it.”

In 2022, Patrick married Olufunmilayo. However, he made their union public in March 2023.
