Ned Nwoko, senator representing Delta north, has addressed the controversy surrounding his wife Regina Daniels’ age at the time of their marriage.
There has been a debate in the past days over the actress’ age at the time she married the politician amid their ongoing public marital crisis.
In a recent statement by Nwoko’s communication team, the politician clarified that he married Daniels “honourably” at age 19 — contrary to the 17 years old claims on social media.
The 64-year-old lawmaker said the marriage was witnessed publicly, with her family fully involved, adding that her mother “personally brought her to me”.
Nwoko emphasised that his relationship with Daniels was built on respect and affection, saying his “world revolved around Regina” and that he treated her with “dignity and care”.
“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19 years old, not 17,’’ the statement reads in part.
“The public witnessed her family giving her out in marriage, and there were witnesses to the fact that her mother personally brought her to me.
“Our customs and traditions do not frown upon polygamy. What I did was to marry her honorably, give her a name, and treat her with dignity.
“Beyond the social media lifestyle, my world revolved around Regina. I pampered her and cared for her deeply, something everyone who has worked with me across Delta, Abuja, and beyond can testify to.”
Their conflict began in October when a viral video showed Daniels in tears, accusing her husband of domestic violence.
Nwoko later fired back, claiming his wife was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
Last week, Daniels admitted to using hard drugs but shifted the focus back to her husband, alleging he orchestrated her addiction as part of a pattern of control and manipulation.
