Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) has concluded a transformative three-day Women Entrepreneurs Development Program (WEDP) Bootcamp aimed at empowering female alumni to build sustainable creative enterprises.

The programme, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, was held from October 27 to 29. It brought together female creatives aged 18 to 35 for a mix of virtual learning and in-person engagement at Terra Kulture, Lagos.

It focused on helping participants transform their artistic passions into viable businesses by strengthening their skills in financial literacy, business formalisation, digital strategy, and investor readiness.

Bolanle Austen-Peters, founder of TAFTA, said the initiative reflects the academy’s commitment to supporting women in Nigeria’s creative industry.

“At TAFTA, we believe that talent without opportunity is potential unfulfilled. This bootcamp ensures that the women we train become not just artists but entrepreneurs capable of scaling businesses that transform their communities,” she said.

The virtual sessions also covered key areas such as business foundations, intellectual property, and digital marketing, while the final day featured live pitch presentations at Terra Kulture.

Participants presented their ideas before mentors, investors, and industry experts, including Juliet Ibhadiyi and Bayo Babatunde, who led sessions on funding and storytelling for investment.

Joseph Umoibom, TAFTA’s Academy Lead, emphasised that the programme seeks to close the gender gap in creative entrepreneurship.

“The creative economy is growing fast, yet women remain underrepresented in leadership roles. Through WEDP, we are breaking barriers and creating access to funding and partnerships,” he said.
