Wanzami TV, a new streaming platform aimed at supporting independent Nollywood filmmakers, has launched with a pay-per-view model.
The platform debuted in 2025 at EbonyLife Place in Lagos, premiering two original films, ‘Quicksand’ and ‘Those Focking Nigerians’.
Unlike most streaming services that require subscriptions, Wanzami TV lets viewers pay for individual films, with filmmakers earning up to 70 percent of the revenue.
Users would not need to subscribe to the website; they would pay a fee at a time for each movie they desire to watch.
Toyin Adebola, the founder of Wanzami Entertainment, revealed that the streaming app was created out of his frustrations with traditional platforms.

He said he decided to build a web-first platform that puts creators first after he struggled to get his debut feature ‘Traffick’ on Netflix and Amazon Prime, and the limited cinema release returns.
“We couldn’t get on Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube was an option, but monetising is difficult. After spending what we did, I wanted the film to at least break even,” he said.
Wanzami now hosts five original titles, including ‘Against Creation’ and ‘Ruin’, and is now open to third-party filmmakers in Nigeria and beyond.
A mobile app for the platform is expected to be released before the end of the year.
