Godwin Nnadiekwe, the Nigerian actor, has been hospitalised following a movie set stunt where he was allegedly kicked in the chest by his colleague Zubby Michael.
Nnadiekwe, in a social media post, stated that the forceful kick to his chest was not part of the script or directed by the film’s director.
A now-viral behind-the-scenes clip uploaded by Nnadiekwe shows Michael exiting a vehicle and leaping over a barricade for a kick stunt.
Nnadiekwe said he sought medical attention on his own, without assistance from the production team.
He also called for the need for stricter safety protocols in Nollywood, particularly given that many productions operate without insurance policies or adequate medical support.
Shortly after Nnadiekwe’s initial post, his management released a public statement confirming that his condition had worsened.
The management added that his condition led to an urgent hospitalisation for internal bleeding.
“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening,” the statement reads.
“He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague, Zubby Michael.”
As of the time of this report, Michael has yet to comment on the matter.
