Daddy Showkey, the ace Nigerian singer, has criticised Governor Umar Bago of Niger state for ordering security operatives to arrest individuals with dreadlocks in Minna.

The governor had initially given the order during a stakeholders’ security meeting on Tuesday. He had instructed officials to cut off the dreadlocks of people living in Minna and impose fines.

However, on Wednesday, Bago clarified that his directive targeted only those involved in cult-related activities.

Reacting to the announcement, Showkey took to his Instagram page to mock the governor, challenging him to first cut off his own beard.

The singer, who is known for his signature dreadlocks, also cancelled his planned trip to Niger state, citing the new rule as a deterrent.

“Mohammed Umar Dada be your problem? I dey come to Minna but now that you have asked your security agents to cut off dreadlocks, so hold your state but make you cut your beer beer,” he wrote.
