The 44-year-old songstress took to her Instagram story to share the underwater footage where she swam close to the marine creatures, wearing an oxygen mask. She said she was fulfilling one of her bucket lists.

The now-viral video sparked concerns from her fans on social media about her safety.

However, Tiwa doused fans’ worries in another post, arguing that the “real danger lies within the Nigerian music industry”.

“Everyone worried about me swimming with sharks, but the ones in this music industry are way more f**king dangerous,” she wrote.

Savage’s statement has raised eyebrows, leaving many to wonder what prompted it.

While she didn’t elaborate on her experience, her words suggest that the Nigerian music industry is a dog-eat-dog space.

In January 2024, the songstress alleged threat of assault and grievous bodily harm against Davido.

Savage filed a petition detailing alleged harassment after an Instagram story post featuring Sophia Momodu, Davido’s ex-partner, on December 23, 2023.

In the petition, Savage asked the police to hold Davido accountable if anything happened to her or her family.

Before her petition, TeeBillz, the ex-husband of Savage, vowed to teach Davido “a lesson” for allegedly disrespecting his family.

Reacting to the petition, the Lagos police command revealed that it had commenced an investigation into the allegations leveled against Davido by Savage.

Savage rose to prominence after releasing her breakout single ‘Kele Kele Love’ in 2010.

She has since established herself as one of the most prominent names in the Nigerian music landscape. She has also earned global awards recognition.

In 2018, Savage became the first female African artiste to win Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2019, she signed a major deal with Universal Music Group.
