Tems, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has released the visuals for her song ‘Turn Me Up’.
‘Turn Me Up’ is a track off Tems’ debut album ‘Born In The Wild’. It was released on May 31.
The music video, shot in a local neighborhood, showcases Tems confidently asserting her self-worth amidst rugged surroundings.
With unbridled passion, she dances and sings about her desire for genuine love, declaring herself a “ten, not a nine”.
“You say you love me, but you love with hesitation/ You cannot win me on a lower vibration/ You need customization, I got authorization/ Open your eyes, I’m a ten, not a nine/ Number one, not a two, not a three,” she sings.
Tems revealed that ‘Born In The Wild’ is deeply personal, reflecting her journey and experiences.
“It’s about my experience as me and about the experiences I’ve had so far. And it really felt like the life I lived before, the life I was accustomed to, felt like a wilderness,” she said.
Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, rose to fame in 2020, courtesy of her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’.
In the same year, she released her debut extended play (EP) titled ‘For Broken Ears’.
She has received several awards and recognitions for her talent.
Last year, the songstress won her first-ever Grammy award for her role in ‘Wait for U’, the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.
