Mayorkun, the Nigerian singer, has come through with a new song titled ‘Innocent’.
The ‘Holy Father’ hitmaker teamed up with colleague Fireboy DML for the soulful track released on streaming platforms on Friday.
In ‘Innocent’, the singers croons about their love and sexual desire for a mystery woman.
“I don’t give a “f” I’m celibate/ But if na taboo sure I’m doing it too/ After round one then we go to round two/ I know say you no go believe say that I just wanna stand by you/ I just wanna stand by you/ I don’t understand, why you think say/ I no go stand by you,” they sing.
‘Innocent’ comes after his previously released song ‘Under The Canopy,‘ where he addressed allegations by TikToker Nickie Barbie of his involvement in money rituals.
In April, Nickie Barbie, whose real name is Precious Kingsley, sparked controversy when she alleged that Mayorkun and some Nigerian artistes were engaged in money rituals.
Mayorkun gained popularity in 2016 after he released his debut single ‘Eleko’, which was produced by Puffy Tee.
He was signed to Davido’s record label DMW from 2016 to 2021. During his time at the label, Mayorkun released his debut studio album ‘The Mayor of Lagos’ in November 2018.
After exiting DMW in 2021, the singer released his second album ‘Back In Office in October’ under the Sony Music West Africa division.
Throughout his career, Mayorkun has received numerous accolades and awards for his talent.
