The filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and his brother Gabriel Afolayan have lost their mother who is age 81.
Kunle Afolayan announced the death of Omoladun Ayanladun, the deceased, via social media on Saturday.
He shared several old photos and videos of his mother that captured her memories with family members and grandchildren.
Afolayan expressed grief at her death adding that “it is hard to accept”.
“It is hard to accept, but she surely lived a good life. Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest (1943–2024),” he wrote.
“She’s survived by her children and grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers. Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa. Ire.”
Afolayan, however, did not disclose the cause of death or the date of her passing.
Fans and colleagues have offered their condolences in the post’s comments section.
The Afolayan clan also took to social media to pay their last respects.
Gabriel Afolayan mourned Omoladun via Instagram, describing her as his “gist and dance partner”.
“Home is not cool. We lost a very dear one. You’d be greatly missed, big mummy (iya Oyo). We all love you to bits. I will miss my gist and dance partner,” he wrote.
