Alex Iwobi, Super Eagles midfielder, has released his second single titled ‘What’s Luv’.
The bouncy rap song was released across all streaming platforms on Thursday evening.
The new tune comes about five months after the footballer put out ‘Don’t Shoot’, his debut single, under his bar-churning, braggart alter-ego “17”.
For ‘What’s Luv’, Iwobi enlists rapper SPKS, his close friend, and MBrown, a London-based Afrobeat artiste.
Together, they express their confusion, understanding, and advice on love. Their punchline deliveries are sweetly anchored by the afro-swing instrumental crafted by EM1X, a London-based producer and sound engineer.
The less than three-minute bop begins with MBrown complaining about the muddled definition of modern love. “What’s love?/What’s that? I don’t really know what/ All the good girls want a bad girl/ All the bad girls want a guy they can chop from,” he raps as the beat bounces in synchronicity.
SPKS flows in shortly after. His bars are cocksure as he belts out advice to one “Mr. Lover”.
From then on, Iwobi bounces in, each verse bolder about his esteemed position in life. “Chasing the dream cos I am living my reality/Even Google won’t tell you my salary,” he brags. “Micheal Jordan trips, I got 23 properties”.
In a recent chat with TheCable, Iwobi revealed that he started making music when he was 14, alongside his pursuit of a professional football career.
He revealed that he has “so many unreleased songs” and more will be released soon.
