Play Network Studios and Native Media TV have teamed up to produce a new film titled ‘Hijack ’93’.

The trailer for the film was unveiled on Thursday, with a premiere slated for October 25 on Netflix.

The movie follows the story of four young men yearning for a change.

In an effort to dismantle their military-backed government, these men hijack an airplane, leveraging passengers onboard in the name of social change.

Charles Okpaleke, the film producer, revealed ‘Hijack ’93’ is inspired by a true life event that “shaped our nation’s history”.

He said the aim of producing the film is to “preserve and share authentic African stories with a global audience”.

“Hijack ’93 is a fictional retelling inspired by the real-life hijacking of a Nigerian Airways flight in 1993 by a group of Nigerian teenagers,” he said.

“These pivotal events, which shaped our nation’s history, risk being forgotten over time.

“Such historic events are also essential to our nation’s history and must be shared with future generations.

“As a filmmaker, my goal is to preserve and share authentic African stories with a global audience.”

‘Hijack ’93’ boasts a stellar cast including Bob Manuel, John Dumelo, Sharon Ooja, Nancy Isime, Jemima Osunde, and Efa Iwara.
