‘Lisabi’, a two-part film starring Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, and Odunlade Adekola, is set for debut.
‘Lisabi: The Uprising’, the first part of the epic, will premiere on Netflix on September 27, 2024.
Its sequel ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’ is to come months after in January 2025.
‘Lisabi’ spotlights the life and legacy of the fabled Yoruba hero, Lisabi, whose life left a lasting mark on Yoruba history.
Set in the 18th century, the film tells the story of an Egba farmer who ignites a rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire.
His defiance, culminating in the defeat of over 6000 Oyo soldiers, secures Egba’s independence after centuries of subjugation.
The drama, its producers say, features a compelling storyline, dynamic characters, and lofty production values.
The film is executive-produced by Lateef Adedimeji and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.
It is produced by Al Notions Studios and Anthill Studios.
