The police in Abuja have revealed the identity of the crossdresser found dead on the roadside earlier this month.
On August 7, the crossdresser, identified as Abuja Area Mama, was found dead along the Katampe – Mabushi expressway in the Federal Capital Territory.
The crossdresser was seen lying in a pool of blood with scratches over his body. He also appeared to have been bruised on his face while his belongings were scattered beside him.
Benneth Igweh, the FCT commissioner of police, ordered an investigation into Area Mama’s demise, stating the individual had no means of identification on him.
Sharing an update in a statement on Wednesday, Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, revealed the identity of the deceased as “a male” known as Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict.
The statement disclosed that the deceased was a resident at Dapé in Karmo area of Abuja before his demise.
Adeh added that the family of the deceased had been contacted “to aid the police with necessary information”.
“Sequel to a case of culpable homicide and discovery of an unidentified male corpse earlier mistaken for a female on August 8, 2024. The operatives of the FCT Command have begun a discreet investigation as ordered by the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni., the statement reads in part.
“Preliminary investigations revealed the deceased to be one Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, a ‘33’ year old man who hails from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and resides at Dapé in Karmo Area of Abuja.
“The family of the deceased have also been contacted, as they are aiding the police with necessary information.
“Further development will be communicated in due course.”
