Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna state, has assured the newly sworn-in members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of his commitment to prioritise their safety and welfare.
Sani, who was represented at the swearing-in ceremony by Rabi Salisu, the state’s commissioner for human services and social development, promised to do everything within his power to ensure that corps members “actualize their set goals and objectives”.
He also said the state government would work with relevant security operatives to ensure that all residents of the state, including corps members, “slept with their two eyes closed”.
The governor also commended the NYSC management for a job well done in the areas of national integration and development over the years.
He implored the scheme to maintain the tempo in fostering national unity and cohesion among Nigerians.
Hassan Mahmud Taura, the Kaduna state NYSC coordinator, in his welcome address, said the batch ‘A’ stream ‘I’ corps members were “well prepared to take their oath of allegiance”.
He also nudged them to actively participate in the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development (SAED) training programme, adding that white-collar jobs are not readily available.
“These young energetic Nigerians are well prepared to take their oath of allegiance today to fully qualify them as corp members and prepare them for the tasks ahead,” he said.
