Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has inaugurated a modern ICT laboratory for students of Perfect Memorial School in Mwari, Bauchi state.

The ICT lab, equipped by Huawei Technology Nigeria Limited and remodeled by YouthHubAfrica, was unvieled on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Gambari, who was represented by Suleiman Bogoro, former executive secretary of the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND), commended Huawei for the initiative.

He said the ICT lab would help students in Bauchi state “to remain connected to the global world and have the requisite skills and knowledge to compete favorably with their peers across the globe”.

In a statement, YouthHubAfrica said the facility would enable students to access digital education, and build and expand their digital skills as well as knowledge.

It also said the facility was equipped with 31 computers, 17 uninterruptible power supply (UPS), as well as one projector and projector screen.

In his remark, Kelvin Yang, Huawei technologies’ deputy managing director, said the project “is a demonstration of our collective goal to enhance IT knowledge in the educational institution”.

On his part, Rotimi Olawale, executive director of YouthHubAfrica, expressed optimism that the benefiting students would “become productive members of their community and at the frontline of the digital revolution in Africa”.
