Ruger, the Nigerian singer, has unveiled his record label named ‘Blown Boy Entertainment’.
In 2021, Ruger rose to stardom under Jonzing World, a label owned by D’Prince, which is an affiliate of Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records.
But on Sunday, the ‘Asiwaju’ hitmaker announced his new music label alongside an Instagram channel.
He also adjusted his profile names on social media to reflect the new label.
Speaking via a voice recording, Ruger expressed thankfulness to people who have been supporting him since the beginning of his career while calling for their support.
The 24-year-old singer also said he will soon reveal his next plan for the year via the new channel.
“Hello, everyone, it is Ruger out here. I want to be closer to my fans. People that have been supporting me since the beginning of my career up till this moment. I love you guys so much. I feel like there is a lot you do not know about me. There is a part of my life that you do not know. How fun I am to be with, to vibe with. And I want you guys to know that part. I want to share that part with you,” he said.
“As you have seen now, I just started my own label. I need all the support. I need all the love, up close and personal. I love you guys so much. I am going to be sharing some snippets with you guys—my plans for the year. And you know you guys are going to get firsthand everything I am going to do this year. I love you guys so much.”
It remains to be seen if he had left Jonzing World.
Born Michael Adebayo, Ruger has won several awards for his craft.
In 2021, he won the AFRIMA best newcomer award, and also the best new artiste category at the 2023 Soundcity MVP Awards.
He also has two extended plays (EPs) to his name titled ‘Pandemic’ (2021) and ‘Second Wave’ (2022).
Last September, he came through with ‘RU The World’, his debut album.
