The Lagos state police command has assured the public that there was “no underhand dealing” during the autopsy on the corpse of Mohbad.
The 27-year-old artiste died on September 12 and was buried the next day.
The circumstance surrounding his death has continued to stir up controversies on social media.
On September 18, the Lagos police inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe Mohbad’s death.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, also engaged the Department of State Services (DSS) in the ongoing investigation.
Last Thursday, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.
In a recent update, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos state police spokesperson, said the autopsy was conducted “in the presence of family members”.
He also urged the public to remain calm while they await the results.
“As assured by the CP, the autopsy was promptly carried out, by some of the best forensic pathologists in the country, in the presence of family members,” he wrote in X.
“While we await the result, we urge everyone to remain calm and confident in the process. There is absolutely no underhand dealing, as feared by some concerned persons.
“In the meantime, other aspects of the investigation are progressing well.”
Idowu Owohunwa, the state commissioner of police, said the force would thoroughly examine every piece of information linked to Mohbad’s death.
Thousands of fans have protested nationwide while demanding justice for the late singer.
