Ego Okoye, the TikTok lady who was sentenced to jail for defaming Eniola Badmus, has accused the Lagos police of seizing her mobile phone “despite a court’s order”.
Last month, the TikToker alleged that Badmus, the Nollywood actress, ran a prostitution syndicate with a special preference for ladies who had gone under the knife.
During police interrogation, Okoye apologised to the actress, saying a friend offered her N200,000 to defame her.
Badmus, however, rejected the apology and took the matter to court.
Last Wednesday, a federal high court in Lagos sentenced Okoye to three years imprisonment with the option of a fine of N150,000.
But in a now-viral video, Okoye claimed the police seized her phone and allegedly refused to obey the court’s order.
She alleged that since meeting the condition set aside by the court for her freedom, the Ikeja police have refused to return her seized mobile phone.
“I have been out for like a week, but my phone has been held down by the police,” she cried out.
“Ikeja headquarters police, to be precise. I have literally been telling them that the matter has been resolved in court.
“I was given a fine which I have paid. And the court has been like ‘Okay my things should be given to me’ because the case has been resolved.
“I have been asking the police to give me my phone. They have held down my phone for the past one week. I do not have access to money. I need to get to the hospital. Please give me my phone, but they have been turning me. I do not know why they have held my phone down up to this time.”
