Burna Boy, the Nigerian singer, has become the first African artiste to hit one billion music streams on Audiomack.
The online music platform announced this via its social media pages on Thursday.
“Congratulations #Burnaboy on becoming the first African artiste to hit 1 billion Audiomack streams,” the platform wrote.
Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy gained prominence after the release of ‘Like to Party’, the hit single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ in 2013.
He has become one of the biggest Afrobeats stars in the world since then.
In 2021, ‘Twice As Tall’, his fifth album, won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards.
The 31-year-old has also performed and sold out some notable venues across the globe.
In April, he was ranked the African artiste with the highest revenue from a single concert.
Two months later, he sold out an 80,000-capacity stadium in London — becoming the first African artiste to do so as a solo artiste.
He also thrilled football lovers at the 2023 UEFA Champions League (UCL) final on June 10.
He was recently in the news over his botched concert at the 41,000-capacity Gelredome Arnhem Stadium in the Netherlands.
The musician had sparked outrage when he cancelled the show due to “a number of reasons” after keeping his fans waiting for hours.
