Hilda Baci, the Nigerian chef, has stretched the world record for a marathon cooking session to 100 hours.
On Monday morning, Baci made history after cooking for more than 87 hours and 45 minutes, breaking a record that was previously set by India’s Lata Tondon back in 2019.
The feat was achieved at the Amore Gardens, Lekki in Lagos.
After breaking Tondon’s cooking record, the chef decided to go a step further by setting a new record of 100 hours.
She was initially scheduled to stop at 4 pm on Monday, culminating in her former 96-hour target to surpass the current Guinness World Record holder for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”.
But by 8 pm, the chef completed 100 hours of non-stop cooking.
While Nigerians celebrated Baci’s achievement on Twitter, the Guinness World Records disclosed that it will review all the evidence first before officially confirming the record set by the Nigerian chef.
“We are aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record,” it wrote on Twitter.
TheCable Lifestyle earlier reported how thousands of Nigerians took to Lekki to rally support for the Akwa-Ibom chef.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor, also visited the Lekki venue, while Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, hailed Hilda for “standing at the crossroads of history”.
Some celebrities like Dremo, IK Osakioduwa, Eni Adeoluwa, Timini Egbuson, Liquorose, Tiwa Savage, Spyro, Charles Okocha, and Skiibii also visited the venue of the competition to cheer up Baci.
