Burna Boy, the Afro-Fusion singer, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the presidential election results are not altered.
The presidential election was held on Saturday with a total of 18 candidates contesting for Nigeria’s highest office.
Millions of Nigerians took to their polling units to cast their votes in favour of their preferred candidates.
There were, however, reports of electoral violence in some polling units across the country.
There were also claims that the results of some polling units were altered.
On Sunday, the music star took to Instagram to plead with the electoral commission to ensure the choices of the electorate count.
Burna Boy also urged INEC to not allow itself to be used as a tool for the manipulation of the election results.
“Let Nigeria decide o! @inecnigeria! No try any result magic 🇳🇬,” the singer wrote in pidgin English.
The singer’s remark comes a few hours after he was called out by Nigerians on social media to lend his voice and demand free and fair elections.
Two suspects were arrested by the Plateau state police for allegedly snatching the bimodal voter accreditation System (BVAS) during the presidential and national assembly elections.
In Edo, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested three suspects for allegedly being in possession of 20 permanent voter cards (PVCs).
