Temilade Openiyi, the Nigerian singer better known as Tems, says she wants a man who can “outsmart” her.
The songstress spoke about her choice of relationship during a recent interview.
The ‘Damages’ crooner said she would like to date a man who is way smarter than her to make it impossible for her to “manipulate” him.
“You have to be really smart. You have to outsmart me and not necessarily in terms of knowledge but in terms of life. You have to make me feel I can’t manipulate you,” she said.
Tems has been enjoying massive attention in the international music landscape since she was featured on ‘Essence’ — a song by Wizkid.
In May, the songstress became the first African singer to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for her role in ‘Wait For U’, the hit song by Future featuring Drake.
In September, Tems opened up on her struggles after she left her job to pursue music.
“There were times when I was not just broke – I was broke and hopeless. I used to steal food. I used to go to my aunty’s house just so she could give me food to take home,” she had said.
“I just felt like, What is the point of me existing right now? You have to remember those times. Because that person does not exist anymore.”
