D’banj, the ace singer, has come through with his latest single titled, ‘Cover Me’.
The song was released on all streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday.
‘Cover Me’ is coming on the back of the singer’s first official single of the year titled, ‘Face Show’.
In the less than four-minute project, D’banj talks about the changes he embraced during his self-realization and growth journey.
The singer also croons about some friends he lost “in order for me to grow”.
“Sometimes when I look in the mirror/ I see two men/ Can’t tell where the old me ends and the new begins/ When I start to find myself / I lost some friends/ But I know I gotta let go, in order for me to grow/ Fa la la la la la la, aiye o/ Fa la la la la la la, aiye o/ Nitori pe mo ni’Olorun, mo laiye o/Toba wuwon Kan soro o, mo laiye o,” the lyrics read.
D’banj has won several awards and recognition over the years.
In 2007, he won the ‘Best African Act’ at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
He also claimed the ‘Artist of the Year’ at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2009, and ‘Best International Act: Africa’ at the 2011 BET Awards.
Others included the ‘Best-Selling African Artist’ at the 2014 World Music Awards and the ‘Evolution Award’ at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards.
The singer is best known internationally for his 2012 hit song ‘Oliver Twist’.
