A scroll through the feeds of Linda Osifo’s Instagram page enthrals one into the ever-smiling world of a woman who has fully grasped the idea that the darker the skin, the richer its depth of gracefulness. A lady who cherishes the crimson glow of her skin – the rich colour of simmering chocolate bread. A melanin page scrawled with beauty from head to toes. A dark-skinned diva confident in her body and a paragon of inspiration to women of her shade.

But she hasn’t always been like that. Osifo hasn’t always prided her skin as the ocean of perfection that it is. While growing up, she seriously contemplated bleaching cream because people compared her skin with a monkey’s.

Osifo, however, emerged from the bout of colourism and has become not only a sought-after Nollywood actress but a style queen with mastery of colour blending and an exquisite fashion sense that accentuates the glow of her skin.

Born in Benin City, Edo, Osifo moved to Canada at the age of 16 and only returned to Nigeria to pursue an acting career in 2013.

After two years of rejection due to her complexion and accent, she finally got her big break in ‘Desperate Housewives Africa’ in 2015.

The breakthrough was followed by a plethora of roles in Nollywood heavyweight films like ‘Merry Men 2,’ ‘Tanwa Savage’ and ‘A Naija Chrismas.’

As her acting career took an upward trajectory, Osifo’s innate fashionista grew too — rocking sartorial patterns that feed off the glistering lushness of her onyx skin.

Every attire that touches her skin bows to the gracefulness of its liquid-brown tone. A flowy red evening dress or wine-coloured short halter neck or white suit and pants — regardless of the colour — Osifo commands attention.
