Remi, who is a native of Ondo state, first ventured into the music business before she kick-started her acting career in 1985.
She debuted in ‘Village Headmaster’, the 1900s classic drama series, but gained prominence for her lead role in ‘Surutu’, the hit Yoruba movie.
Her role in the movie further increased her popularity among fans and birthed the nickname ‘Remi Surutu’. She has since then featured in hundred of Nollywood movies.
In 2016, the actress revealed how she lost Ayomikun, one of her daughters, to sickle cell disease.
“I’ll miss you for the rest of my life. It has never been the same since you left. I try to put up strength for me and your sister but it’s hard to believe you’re gone,” Surutu had said in a tribute.
“I keep looking at your picture every day thinking and wondering how you left without a goodbye. I love you so much Ayomikun Oladayo and your sister loves you so much too.”
Ajike, her second daughter, tied the knot in 2020.
