Love, they say, knows no boundaries. This best describes the relationship between Muima, a 25-year-old man, and Thereza, his lover who is 85-year-old.
In an interview with Afrimax English, Muima opened up about their love journey.
According to him, he had left his town in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in pursuit of his varsity education.
He said when he arrived in his new environment, he and his friends started hunting for accommodation and eventually found one in Thereza’s house.
Muima said he fell in love with the aged woman — who is the landlady of the house — due to her charming personality.
He also recalled how Thereza gave him food one day when he was penniless, hungry, and very weak.
“The way she behaved and treated me pushed me to love her. Though she is an old woman and in reality could be my grandmother, so what! I love her,” he said.
“I remember one Friday when my colleague wasn’t around, I was hungry and we had no food. I was very weak. And out of nowhere, the old woman brought me some food. She came and served me with too much care.”
Muima said he remains unperturbed by the wave of criticisms trailing his relationship with Thereza.
“This is my choice, This is my happiness. As everyone has theirs,” he added.
Thereza — who has eight children and 20 grandchildren — also reiterated her love for Muima.
It is understood that the pair are planning to tie the knot very soon.
“I am 85 years of age. I have 8 children and 20 grandchildren. According to my boyfriend’s age, he could be my 5th grandchild. He loves me and I also love him. I am now ready to put on the wedding dress and ring,” Thereza said.
