Kemi Afolabi, the Nigerian actress, has taken to social media to narrate her “traumatizing” ordeal with armed robbers.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the film star said she and her driver were attacked at Arepo, a satellite town off the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in Ogun state.
According to her, the incident occurred on Tuesday while she was returning home from a movie set.
The 43-year-old actress said the armed robbers broke her car’s windscreen, left her and her driver injured, and then stole her belongings.
Afolabi also disclosed that the incident has left her traumatised, adding that she has not been able to sleep since the robbery attack.
“I am in a state of shock! Traumatized!! I haven’t closed my eyes to sleep since yesterday. I also experienced the highly poor insecurity state in Nigeria which has become a norm,” she wrote.
“No matter how much we scream and cry it always falls on deaf ears of those who govern us even when death is involved.
“My driver and I were attacked by armed robbers at Arepo where I went to film while in traffic on our way back home yesterday.
“They broke my windscreens, left my whole body with wounds and skin in pains because of the impact of the shattered glass which was forcefully broken while I was in the car, my arm was cut with cutlass, they took my phones, belongings and ran off! Sadly my driver also took a hit to his head.”
The actress thanked God for keeping her alive, saying the encounter could have been worse.
“Still I am thankful because it could be worse! However, this is nothing compared to what I’ve been through in recent times,” she added.
The development comes a few days after the film star disclosed that she was diagnosed with an incurable disease.
