Like forensic expert, doctor claims Baba Ijesha defiled minor at 7

Aniekan Makanjuola, a medical doctor, has alleged that Baba Ijesha, the embattled Nollywood actor, defiled a minor at the age of seven.

Baba Ijesha has been in a legal tussle since he was accused of assaulting the minor, who is now 14.

He is facing a six-count charge bordering on the indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

The trial of the case continued at the special offences unit of the Lagos high court on Thursday.

According to NAN, during the session, the doctor, who testified as the fourth prosecution witness, was led in evidence by Yusuf Sule, the state prosecutor.

Makanjuola, head of clinical services at Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF), alleged that findings by his team showed that the teenager was defiled seven years ago as she claimed.

“Our findings were that there was a blunt penetration of the vagina which was consistent with the client’s history,” she said.

“We took her to the consulting room and she gave a history of the events from seven-years ago. She did not mention these incidents to her mother but it began to affect her mood and academic performance.

“She disclosed what happened to her mother’s friend on April 16 who in turn informed her mother. We decided to do an examination.

“There was a normal external genitalia, we observed a healed laceration on the labia minora at the 3’0Clock position; we also observed a notch at the 6’0 clock position.

“Based on these findings, my lord, the client was sent to the laboratory for more tests, they were HIV 1 and 2, Hepatitis A, B, Syphilis and pregnancy and they all came out negative.

“She was sent for psychological assessment and a report was made, authenticated and sent to the SCID.”

Following the revelations, the prosecution tendered the referral letter and medical report as evidence to the court. They were admitted as evidence and marked as exhibit J and J1.

During the cross-examination of her claim by Dada Awosika, the defence council, Makanjuola said WARIF is a sexual assault referral centre.

The forensic medical examiner also said she conducted the test on the minor based on her history.

“The healed lacerations connotes is that the lacerations found in the genitalia were not something that was recent my lord,” she added.

Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the judge, thereafter adjourned the trial until November 5 and 12.

The development comes after Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode, a child forensic expert, also claimed that there was evidence that actor allegedly defiled the teenager at seven.

The teenager had earlier alleged that Baba Ijesha sexually assaulted her seven years ago and at 14 before he was eventually arrested.
