The police in India have arrested a Nigerian named Chekwume Malvin for alleged drug peddling.

According to The Hindu, Malvin was arrested by operatives attached to the K.G. Halli division of the Indian police service on Wednesday.

The 45-year-old man was said to have been nabbed near the BDA complex in HRBR layout.

The police were said to have seized about 15 grams of MDMA, 250 ml of hashish oil, N13,850 in cash, and a phone.

Inquiries reportedly revealed that Malvin had visited India on a medical visa but then enrolled in the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in Mumbai to learn acting.

He had completed a six-month course in acting from the same academy in Abuja in Nigeria.

After completing the course in Mumbai, Malvin joined the film industry and got roles in over 20 Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada films.

Some known films he had roles in include ‘Vishwaroopam’, ‘Singham’, ‘Anna Bond’, ‘Dilwale’, and ‘Paramathma’.

Malvin was reported to have confessed that he wanted to make quick money and used his network to peddle drugs.

It is understood that the police are now analysing his phone details.
