DOWNLOAD: Diana Ross drops ‘Thank You’ ahead of first album in 15 years

Diana Ross, the ace American singer and actress, has come through with ‘Thank You’, her much-awaited single.

The 77-year-old singer announced the project’s release on Thursday ahead of her first album in 15 years billed for release in September.

“My new single ‘Thank You’ is out now,” she wrote in a terse post on her Instagram page.

The less than four-minute song sees Ross appreciating those who have contributed to her heroics in the music landscape over the years.

It also sees the singer reflecting on her days at Motown, a record label where she started pulling the weight of fame.

In an earlier post, the musician described her forthcoming album, also christened ‘Thank You’, “as my gift to you with appreciation and love.”

“My new album ‘Thank You’ will be released on September 10th. This collection of songs is my gift to you with appreciation and love. I am eternally grateful that I had the opportunity to record this glorious music at this time.  #DianaRossThankYou,” she wrote.

The ‘Baby Love’ crooner also said her forthcoming project will offer “a powerful, inclusive musical message of love and togetherness.”

She added that “with its songs of happiness, appreciation, and joy, it wholeheartedly acknowledges that we are in this all together”.

The 13-track project, recorded during the coronavirus pandemic, is coming after the success recorded by ‘I Love You’, Ross’s 2006 album.

It will also be the singer’s 25th solo studio album and her 43rd in total.

Ross started her career with Motown in the 1960s and gained international prominence after she joined the Supremes, a now-defunct female music group.

With the group, she inspired several hit tracks such as ‘In The Name Of Love’ and ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’ before announcing her split in 1970.
