Larry King, an American television personality, has reportedly been hospitalised after testing positive for COVID-19.
A source close to King’s family told ABC News that the 87-year-old talk show host is currently in isolation and receiving treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
“Larry has fought so many health issues in the last few years and he is fighting this one hard too, he’s a champ,” the source was quoted to have said.
Showbiz 411 also reported that Shawn, his wife, and Chance and Cannon, his sons, are unable to visit him due to COVID-19 protocols in California.
The news outlet, which first reported King’s COVID-19 diagnosis, added that he has been in the hospital for 10 days.
King, whose decades-long career on CNN and as a USA Today columnist made him one of the media’s prominent stars, had a major heart attack in 1987.
He also struggled with lung cancer in 2017 and thereafter suffered a stroke that prompted him to undergo angioplasty in 2019.
King was said to have lost Andy, one of his sons, who died of a heart attack in July last year, while Chaia, his daughter, breathed her last few weeks later after battling with lung cancer.
The TV personality became popular in the 1970s with ‘The Larry King Show,’ his radio program. From 1985 to 2010, he was the host of ‘Larry King Live’ on CNN.
Over the course of his career, he has won two Peabody awards, an Emmy award, and 10 Cable ACE awards.
