Charles Awurum, a Nollywood comic actor, has expressed displeasure over the recent violence in the country, saying that the youth are the cause of their own problems.
The 50-years-old movie star shared a video on his Instagram page on Sunday wherein he addressed the issues of vandalism and looting of various businesses and organisations by hoodlums across the country.
He also lamented that while some youths are protesting to ensure a positive change, others are seeking to cause havoc in the country.
“Na now I sabi say the youths na the problem of the youths, some protest for the betterment of the country while some loot for the bitterment of the country. This world is rigorous,” he said in the video.
In the caption of the post, Anwurum wrote: “The youths na the problem of the youths. Politicians dey use some dey fight against the majority wey get better intention for the future.”
The #EndSARS protests started as a campaign against misconducts of the now-disbanded special anti-robbery squad (SARS) and expanded focus to overall police reform.
It was, however, hijacked by hoodlums with violence erupting in some parts of the country. Government buildings, private properties, media houses, and vehicles were either looted or destroyed in the process.
