Tuface Idibia, a musician better known as 2Baba, has called for a total shutdown of Nigeria amid the ongoing protest against police brutality and extortion.

Over the past 12 days, there has been a nationwide movement that started as an opposition against the now-dissolved special anti-robbery squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Taking to his Twitter handle, the ace singer wondered why people are still going to work despite the #EndSARS protest.

According to him, what the citizens need is a total shutdown of the country until the federal government agrees to their demands.

“I wonder why everybody is still going to work. We need total shutdown until politicians start to answer!,” the singer wrote.

“Unless them wan use SARS come pursue us go work #EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutality #endimpunity #endlooting Make only market for essential things dey.”

The protesters had demanded police reform alongside improved governance and living standards. The movement was, however, hijacked by thugs who meted out attacks in areas including Abuja, Lagos, Osun and Edo.

Consequently, a 24-hour curfew was declared after an attack led to a jailbreak in Benin, the capital of Edo. This was followed by a similar declaration in Lagos as thugs shut the streets of the commercial city.
