Tekashi 6ix9ine, an American rapper, has come through with ‘Trollz’, his new single, featuring Nicki Minaj, a Trinidadian-born singer and songwriter.
The two music heavyweights took to their individual social media platforms to announce the release of the highly anticipated project.
“Link in my bio. ‘Trollz’ out now! Everybody repost… this on your page right now and send me a screenshot when you’re done @nickiminaj Why are they playing with us like we don’t run this industry black balled who?………..,” 6ix9ine wrote on Instagram.
The song, which was released on Friday, has since become an instant hit, reportedly topping the US iTunes sales chart, few minutes after it came out.
Minaj said a portion of the proceeds from the song, including merch, will go to The Bail Project Inc., which provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial.
“A portion of the proceeds from #Trollz including merch items, will be going directly to The Bail Project Inc. [@bailproject]. The fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who can’t afford to pay bail while awaiting their trial,” she wrote.
“We want to protect and support the thousands of brave people working on the front lines of social justice, using their voices to demand an end to the targeting and killing of Black Americans by the police. #BlackLivesMatter.”
The new project stretches what has been an impressive run for 6ix9ine since he was released from prison in April due to concerns over his health amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The rapper, born Daniel Hernandez, earlier released ‘Gooba’, while he also recently collaborated with Akon to record a sequel to ‘Locked Up’, the Senegalese-US singer’s 2004 breakout single.
