The award-winning rapper took to his Instagram page on Sunday to share a video clip of himself rapping new lyrics over the beat of the track while Akon spurs him on.

The song seems to be an upcoming track off his much-awaited album.

“100,000 comments if you want this, ‘Locked Up Part 2’ I’m on album mode. This album going crazy… @akon,” he wrote in a post accompanying the video.

“Thinking ’bout the things that I did/Got me thinking, like, why the fuck I did that?/Got me wishing that I could take it all back,” 6ix9ine can be heard singing while he was being hyped up by Akon in what appeared to be a home studio.

The release of the track’s preview comes weeks after the rapper, born Daniel Hernandez, had been teasing fans about a follow-up song to ‘Gooba’, his latest single.

He had announced last week that he would delay its release due to the global outrage trailing the death of George Floyd, a black-American killed in Minnesota.

The development further continues the 24-year-old rapper’s impressive run since he was released from prison in April.

In December last year, 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years in prison after testifying against members of Nine Trey Gang, a violent group he once belonged to.

Paul Engelmayer, a U.S. district judge, would however, direct his release on April 2, over concerns that the rapper, who has asthma, could be at risk of the coronavirus pandemic while in prison.
