The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) has come under intense criticism for using videos of Davido, Tiwa Savage and Wizkid in an advert for its forthcoming program without their consent.
In one of the videos, which surfaced online on Wednesday, Davido appeared to be campaigning for ’12 Days of Glory’, an upcoming fasting and prayer program of the church.
Davido, however, denied any involvement with the church. He also threatened lawsuit if the video was not retracted.
Elizabeth Omale, the lady who made the visuals, had apologized for any confusion caused by the video, saying it was taken out of context.
In the wake of the heated controversy, a similar video of Wizkid and Tiwa Savage emerged online where both stars are seen talking about the importance of God in their respective lives. The video also ends with a promotion for the church’s program.
The development has since sparked angry reactions from Wizkid and Tiwa Savage and also gotten many talking on social media platforms especially Twitter.
“So it’s not only Davido these COZA fanatics are using to stage their pathetic concert abi na program. They have dragged Wizkid and Tiwa Savage. I am lost for words. Make nobody come tell me say na members and Biodun Fatoyinbo no get hand inside. CONSENT is always their problem!!,” a Twitter user said.
“Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo was alleged to have sex with Busola Dakolo without consent. Now Davido claims Fayotinbo used his video for an ad without consent. It seems consent is a sin in COZA & the members must defend it religiously,” another user said.
Here is what some Nigerians had to say:

Apparently wizkid is not subbing David, he was also recorded in a COZA fraudulent video, Tiwa was recorded too. Mehn! Everything about Abbey is fraudulent. Asked celebs to talk about God, then used them to promote your event and launder your damaged reputation. Mad o!

Why is everyone in Coza shameless?

Someone said Davido didn’t give consent to that Coza video and another person said it looks like Biodun always has problem getting consent .. you people are wicked on this app pic.twitter.com/nKLlEm3QRC

Coza keeps breaking the internet; unfortunately for the wrongest reasons.

I think Davido is smart enough to own the shits he do!! So, if he says he has nothing to do with COZA..He sincerely has nothing to do with it!! He has nothing to lose if he supports them but he said he has nothing to do !! But that stunt from COZA was super dumbb

COZA, Fatoyinbo & it's members are birds of the same feathers. They're always in the news for wrong reasons. Could still remember after the rape, we heard that CAN sent representatives which CAN denied. Tonto went there, she was bashed & now it's Davido without his consent.🙆🙈😂 pic.twitter.com/0LfcSfEZWk

Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage all went to Abuja for a day, may be two and then allegedly had their voices used for videos with intentions they didn’t consent to. I’d be shocked if I didn’t know better. COZA should organise a “12 Days of CONSENT” revival programme. pic.twitter.com/LBbc1261eA

Coza doing exactly what they did to davido to wizkid and tiwa
— Veinzell💯 (@iveinzell) December 19, 2019
COZA really made Davido, Wizkid & Tiwa do innocent Videos so they can use it as PR for their Church Programme. Just when you think they have done the worst, they go extra mile to do more Evil. Shameless Lots

COZA people mad abeg, the whole congregation should be rounded up and arraigned https://t.co/pfID3RGBTp

I don’t know which is funnier, that COZA is using secular artistes to promote their church program or that even secular artistes don’t want their white stained by a rapist

Coza can never trend for the right reason, Consent must dey involved. It’s no longer a woman that didn’t give consent, it’s now a man. Davido pele o. Coza believes in “the violent taketh it by force”
— Tracy Sylvester (@tracysyl) December 19, 2019
Davido definitely was in that video for the most part of it, he must have known it was for a COZA event, because he was there shaking his head. However, I believe he may not have been paying as much attention because of the unofficial context of the video.

Davido to drop Sweet In The Middle video today, the COZA outrage was yesterday.
I'm sensing a pattern, it's not longer a coincidence but I sha won't talk 🙂

If kanye west goes to joel osteen church to sing “jesus is king” u will hail. Davido makes an ad for COZA everywhere is on fire. we take matters like this close to the heart than our personal lives.. endtime signs.

Davido said he did a quick video for a kid introduced as fan.😂😂😂
Okay, what is the purpose of that video?
Maybe he did not hear the kid and her mum talking about COZA?
I'm not understanding,who is deceiving who? pic.twitter.com/Xs464EUFGr— loose mouth/oluwasneh🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 (@RemiGbenga) December 19, 2019
While Davido’s explanation may not fit, it is important to note the real victory here. What is the real victory? That Biodun Fatoyinbo And COZA are such a tarnished brand that people will jump through hoops to dissociate themselves from both.
I consider this victory.

COZA can never trend for the right reasons.
What's worrisome is not that they allegedly used Davido's video without his consent, but that they're using a secular artist to promote a church programme.
I could be wrong but I think that's like having Mia Khalifa promote Shiloh.— Adunni Adaora Achebe (@Adunni_Achebe) December 19, 2019

One thing I have to say In this Davido and COZA issue is that Davido is a Drama king
He wanted to release Album and he came up with a Drama with those girls about pregnancy
Now he wants to release Sweet in the middle video now COZA video just got released? 😂😂#COZA #davido pic.twitter.com/3S5KygO4us

Biko who advised Davido to record this promotional video for COZA 12 days of Glory? Totally disappointed. You people should do better. Biodun Fatoyinbo we see your PR work with Davido, but the world knows who you're. pic.twitter.com/fJa1Yvg4qJ
— Ugo (@UgoIkeakor) December 18, 2019
There is no way Davido would make me believe he didn't do that video consciously as a promotional video for COZA. And nobody would killl him anyways. The disclaimer is just an after thought because of the backlash. Before you argue, watch the video again and come back to comment
— Wale Adetona (@iSlimfit) December 18, 2019
A colleague at the office who attends COZA said people are winning monetary prices, $1000 to be precise for making videos promoting 12days if glory, so I think this mom probably thought having Davido on her video would give her an edge https://t.co/o6bNlacgMj
— Mkay's Tweeter (@Mkayz_Tweeter) December 19, 2019
There's a BIG value deficit issue at COZA.
It doesn't add up that a church uses a secular artiste like @davido to promote a 12-day prog of "fasting, intense worship, consecration, ballistic prayers and miracles".
This mismatch is more worrying than Davido's disowning of COZA. pic.twitter.com/klBek3fDTE
