Marley is among Nigeria’s non-conforming artistes whose ostentatious music style and natural inclination for relating with average Nigerians beyond the barriers of education and social class has seen him gain traction over the past few months.
Although his choice of lyrics has, on a number of occasions been meddled by controversies and mixed feelings, the singer only appears to be waxing stronger and amassing fans in the Nigerian music scene and across social media platforms.
In May 2019, he was arraigned on 11-counts of fraud-related offenses, following his arrest by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) but denied any wrongdoing.
Although the court had granted the singer a bail of N2 million on May 30, he was released two weeks after when he had fully met his bail terms as stipulated in his court documents.
On July 6, police authorities in Ireland were said to have shut down a Dublin concert to be headlined by Marley over suspected violence among a gang from whom a number of weapons were later recovered.
Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, is married to two wives in Britain and has four children.
