The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has fined Jay FM for airing songs it considers as “vulgar and indecent”.

In a letter addressed to the CEO of JODAJ Global Communications Limited, the parent company of Jay FM, NBC listed Falz’s ‘This Is Nigeria’, Wande Coal’s ‘Iskaba’ and Olamide’s ‘See Mary, See Jesus’ as songs not to be aired.

The commission said the radio station has been previously warned to desist from airing such songs.

NBC brought out a line from ‘This Is Nigeria’ as an example: “This is Nigeria, look how we living now. everybody be criminal.”

Jay FM has been fined the sum of N100,000 to be paid in two weeks.

‘This Is Nigeria’ has previously drawn controversy, with the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) asking the ‘Jeje’ singer to withdraw the video or face legal action.
