Burna Boy has released the visuals for ‘Ye’, one of the best songs on his ‘Outside’ album.
Although ‘Ye’ was released as part of Burna Boy’s album in January, massive attention was drawn to it in June when American rapper Kanye West released his eight studio album of the same name.
The video pays tribute to Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti with paintings of him appearing in numerous scenes.
The ‘Heaven’s Gate’ singer also carried a flag with the face of Fela printed on it.
According to Burna Boy, “Ye is a song that essentially shows the unrelenting nature of Nigerians.
“We thrive despite the leadership and circumstances. Everyone has big dreams that logically may or may not be achieved; Aspiring to have a Bentley, g-wagon regardless of their current situation.
“I can’t come and kill myself” is an expression that means, you can’t dwell on things that aren’t working out or looking good, you only have one life after all.”
