Chimamanda Adichie has been conferred with an honorary degree from Duke University, in North Carolina, US.

Adichie, who was recently longlisted for the alternative Nobel Literature Prize, received the honorary degree on Thursday.

The university described the Nigerian author as one of the people making significant impact in the world.

“Few writers have captured the challenges of immigrants and others navigating those changes as Adichie,” the university said.
