The Katsina Polytechnic has revealed plans to launch four new degree programmes in collaboration with the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna.
Ibrahim Kurfi, rector of the polytechnic, disclosed this on Wednesday while receiving a panel from FUTMinna who paid him a visit in Katsina.
He listed the programmes as B.Sc. technical education, B.Sc. biology, B.Sc. mathematics and B.Sc. chemistry.
He said the visit of the panel was sequel the polytechnic’s request for affiliation with the institution, adding that “the university’s team is to assess preparations on ground for the commencement of programmes”.
The rector said the programmes would boost the academic excellence for which the polytechnic stood.
Earlier, Emmanuel Odesi, leader of the panel, said the team was at the institution to assess the facilities on ground for the commencement of the programmes.
“We will go round and asses the facilities on ground and forward our report to the management of the university for a final decision,” he said.
Odesi said that the team would also pay another visit when the two institutions would sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the running of the programmes.
The Federal Polytechnic Bida, in Niger state, has also started running degree programmes in affiliation with the FUTMinna.
