McCraney won an Academy Award for his work on ‘Moonlight’.

The movie, ‘Cyrano the Moor’, an adaptation of both William Shakespeare’s revenge story ‘Othello’ and the classic French play ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’, tells the story of a large-nosed romantic who uses his words to help another man win the affection of the woman he loves.

Oyelowo would be producing the flick alongside his wife and English actress Jessica Oyelowo.

‘Cyrano the Moor’ would be Oyelowo’s second production with Disney. In 2016, Oyelowo worked with the company on ‘Queen of Katwe’.

The movie, which joins the long list of live-action musicals Disney has in development and in various stage of production, is unique in that it will not be based on one of Disney’s classic animations.
