Babalola David Oluwasayo and Alabi Philip Toluwase have been named the best performing candidates in the May/June 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Babalola and Alabi are presently studying medicine and surgery at the University of Ibadan (UI).
Nkata Lewechi Ugonma, who’s studying chemical engineering at University of Brimingham, United Kingdom, emerged third among over a million candidates that sat for the 2015 WASSCE.
The trio were on Thursday presented the National Distinction /Merit Award by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The award presentation was done during the 54th annual meeting of Nigeria National Committee of WAEC in Agidingbi, Lagos.
“Babalola who emerged first in eight subjects scored 673,7626,” said Olu Adenipekun, head, national office, WAEC.
Adenipekun said Alabi scored 667,1802 in eight subjects, while Nkata in eight subjects scored 660,2430 to emerge second and third respectively.
Babalola had his secondary education at Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ibadan, Oyo state while Alabi had his secondary school education at Our Lady and St Francis Catholic College, Osogbo, Osun state.
Nkata graduated from Loyola Jesuit College, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
