Several studies have revealed that those with low level of emotional expression and experts in suppressing anger are much less likely to survive cancer.

Aside the other causes of cancer that everyone is familiar with, nurturing hatred in the heart and unexpressed anger also breeds cancer.

According to the research conducted by the King’s College Hospital in London, “cancer is caused by the suppression of toxic emotions; primarily anger, hate, resentment and grief”.

“Suppression of these toxic negative emotions increases stress hormone cortisol levels, which directly suppress immune system function.”

When the immune system is not functioning properly, normal cells mutate into cancer cells.

One of the major causes of breast cancer is extreme suppression of anger and hatred.

69 of 160 women with breast cancer evaluated during the research all had the characteristic of extreme anger, says the journal of psychosomatic research.

Similarly, a study carried out by the University of Rochester and Harvard School of Public Health recorded a 70% increase in cancer deaths for those who were scored at above the 75% level of suppressing their emotions.

This shows that those whose level of emotional expression is only on 25% are at higher risk of death.

Another study conducted by the department of psychology, University of Miami, men with prostate cancer who had greater suppression of anger, were found to have fewer numbers of natural killer cells (which are the key immune system cells for fighting cancer).

It is therefore advised that people who live with hurt or hatred should visit a therapist who would work with them to permanently remove these toxic emotions.

One could also work on improving the level of emotional expression; it helps build a healthy and stress-free life and equally promotes longevity.
