On Friday, staff of the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made John Oyegun, the national chairman, feel special on the occasion of his 77th birthday.
The surprise birthday party was organised by officers of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
At the celebration which held at the party’s secretariat witnessed the cutting of a cake and goodwill messages from members of the party.
Appreciating staff of the secretariat for the party, Oyegun said: “For you to give me this kind of reception I think it is something I would always remember.
“I want to thank each and every one of you who is here this evening. I am sure that God in his infinite mercy will bless all of you.
“So it is my opportunity to thank you all very much for the sacrifices that you have made for putting up with me and my colleagues, the NWC for working under conditions which I realise given our situation, welfare was not particularly something to celebrate but on that I think I have good news.”
He also used the occasion of his birthday to announce to the staff of the secretariat would soon “smile” an the party plans to improve their welfare.
“That committee was headed by no person than the deputy national chairman south, he has completed his assignment, with that being on our side I’m sure members of the secretariat would have course to smile in the months ahead,” Oyegun added.
